Medium duty cable core pay-off driven (MDPO)

  • The pay-off consists of a stand where the mobile wagon is hanging.  The two telescoping arms of the wagon can be moved on the main shaft by means of the worm gear motor and the width screws.

The pintles can be raised and lowered by means of the worm gear motors.  The movements of the pintles are stopped by limit switches at their end positions.

The reel is controlled by an ac motor.  The speed can be set by a dancer in the automatic mode.  A torque potentiometer (option) is used to limit the current or torque that the motor can draw in the manual mode.  The motor is connected to the carrier through a speed gearbox.

When ever the pay-off is turning, it also moves back and forth (traverse) in relation to the machine center line.  The traversing movement is controlled by a pair of sensors installed on the pivoting guides or on a dancer assembly (since not all pay-offs are supplied with guides).  Note that the guides are also sometimes supplied under another serial number and still located on the pay-off.

The traverse toggle switches are provided to set the traverse starting point or make any correction as the reel is turning.  On extended pay-offs, the same switches are also used to move the wagon in and out of the pay-off area.
